Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and kosher salt. Whisk until well blended.
  • In another bowl, soften the unsalted butter and cream it together with the vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture into the creamed butter and vanilla, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the rainbow nonpareils or sprinkles by hand until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven. Once chilled, break off small pieces of dough and shape into bite-sized squares or circles.
  • Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each piece.
  • Bake in the oven until the edges are lightly golden, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature, avoid overmixing, and allow proper cooling time. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
